The road to Galiraya cycling epic
The cycling trail starts at Kayunga town, continues north through Bbaale, and ends in Galiraya on the shores of Lake Kyoga, a distance of approximately 85 kilometres (53 mi).
Galilaya town is close to the point where the Victoria Nile enters Lake Kyoga, to the east of town. Not far from the town center, to the west of town, the River Sezibwa also enters Lake Kyoga after its 150 kilometres (93 mi) northward journey.
The experience
On this challenging 80km undulating dusty orange trail you will get to cycle through the bustling villages of deep Kayunga through trading centres and sugar cane plantations all the way to the expansive lake Kyoga where the Victoria Nile meets the shallow lake.
You will be escorted and way paved by an escort van with a bike carrier, bike technician and repairers, luggage carrier and snack water provisions.
At Garilaya, you will camp out at a scenic campsite with all campsite provisions. Meals and refreshments and a camp fire till late.
