Lake Mburo National Park is a premier destination for those seeking a blend of adventure and natural beauty. This trip combines a thrilling cycling journey through the park, and a serene camping experience by the lake.

Camping by the Lake: The experience culminates in a relaxing night of camping by the lake. The UWA campsite offers a peaceful setting where you can unwind by the campfire, enjoy dinner, and soak in the natural beauty of Lake Mburo. Here you will spot wildlife on the way to the campsite and at the campsite. 

Cycling at the edge of Lake Mburo National Park:

Next morning, the adventure continues with an early morning drive through the park with high chance of spotting giraffes and you set off for a cycling tour at the edge of the park’s diverse landscapes. The route takes you through rolling hills and savannahs, providing a unique perspective on the community wildlife and scenery. Look out for zebras, buffaloes, kobs, hippos and other game as you cycle along.

For Cycling:

  • Mountain bike (provided)
  • Helmet (provided)
  • Cycling gloves
  • Padded cycling shorts
  • Hydration pack or water bottles
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Lightweight, breathable clothing

For Camping:

  • Tent (provided)
  • Sleeping mat (provided)
  • Sleeping bag (available for hire)
  • Warm clothing for the evening
  • Flashlight or headlamp

General Items:

  • Sunglasses and hat
  • Camera or smartphone
  • Binoculars
  • First aid kit
  • Snacks and energy bars

Itinerary

Day 1

  • 6:00 AM: Meet at Lugogo Mall parking next to Oryx Fuel Station.
  • 6:30 AM: Depart for Lake Mburo National Park (5-hour journey).
  • 12:00 PM: Arrive at Lake Mburo. Set up camp. Hike and explore and do optional activities like the boat ride on lake Mburo
  • 7:00 PM: Dinner (excluded). Enjoy a campfire by the lake and retire at will.

Day 2

  • 6:00 AM: Breakfast (included) and packing up.
  • 6:30 AM: Start a 4-hour cycling game ride through the park, covering approximately 20km.
  • 11:00 AM: Return to the cycling start point to freshen up and prepare for the journey back to Kampala.
  • 12:00 PM: Depart for Kampala, estimated arrival around 6:00 PM.
