JungleJam- Kid's camps and outdoor adventures

For the little adventurers and kiddies(4-12 years) to explore and learn life in the outdoors. For their time outside the class walls and into the jungle to learn survivor skills, about nature, hike and camp outside on same day adventures not far from home.


The experience
In an outdoors setting from one of the many chosen locations, the kids will be taught how to keep themselves safe in the outdoors. They will learn some basic first aid in an exciting way, learn about basic species of Uganda, how to make a camp fire, set up a tent and proper ways of sanitizing water incase of emergencies.
The junglejam adventure will be a same day event to make sure the kids spend their day in the most meaningful way and also get back home safe in time.

Guides and instructors
Our guides and instructors for the kids are primary school teachers in Uganda with extensive experience in eco-tourism and outdoor adventures.

Itinerary

JungleJam: Kids Hiking & Camping Adventures

Departure Point: Lugogo Mall, Kampala

Target Group: Kids aged 4–12

Itinerary

7:30 AM – Check-in & Departure from Lugogo Mall

  • Parents/guardians sign in the kids
  • Safety briefing and group allocation
  • Board Sunny Outdoors van to Mpanga Forest (approx. 1.5-hour drive)

9:00 AM – Arrival at mpanga forest camp & Welcome Session

  • Short briefing by the guides
  • Distribute hiking kits (snack pack, water, JungleJam wristbands)

9:30 AM – Guided Forest Hike (5km)

  • Interactive nature walk led by a forest ranger
  • Spot and learn about trees, birds, butterflies
  • Nature scavenger hunt challenge (with small prizes!)

11:00 AM – Jungle Camp Setup

  • Kids learn how to:
    • Set up simple tents
    • Choose a safe campsite
    • Handle camping tools safely
  • Light snacks and hydration break

12:00 PM – Campfire & S’mores

  • Roasting marshmallows & making s’mores
  • Campfire storytelling and JungleJam sing-along

1:00 PM – Outdoor Skills Workshop

  • Basic first aid for kids (cuts, bites, dehydration)
  • Staying safe outdoors (what to do if lost, buddy system)
  • Packing a mini survival kit
  • Practice knot tying and simple rope games

2:30 PM – JungleJam Fun & Craft Time

  • Forest-themed team games
  • Nature crafts (leaf rubbings, bark art, or bug hotel building)
  • Juice and snack break

3:45 PM – Closing Circle

  • Recap and sharing what they learned
  • Awarding of JungleJam participation badges
  • Group photo at the campsite

4:00 PM – Departure from Mpanga Forest

5:30–6:00 PM – Return to Lugogo Mall for pickup
